Kida eyed him in interest, "Thanks for the warning," she replied noncommittally. She was an adult and could more than take care of herself. She'd been around a hell of a lot longer than Luigi had and she could read people's temperaments pretty well. She wasn't stupid enough to fully trust Dimentio, or trust him at all really, but that didn't mean she liked him any less for it. She was pretty damn sure he didn't trust her either. Then again, their relationship wasn't based on trust, so much as a sort of mutual respect and similarities, "Though I am interested in your history with him," she admitted.

Luigi figured that would be something she would want to know, but he wasn't really comfortable with anybody knowing exactly the extent of his history with Dimentio, though it would come out sooner or later with him hanging around. Best he say it himself before the jester found a way to spin it or bring it up causing his friends to lose trust in him. "It's a long story.." He began looking down at his feet.

Kida looked around her, "I got all the time in the world," she told him. Her statement was truer for her than it would be for most humans. After all she'd still live on for centuries and millenia if she wasn't killed by Iblis or his cronies.

-Way too lazy to summarize the whole game, so here's a link. Link: www.mariowiki.com/Super_Paper_Mario#Story Probably can get the gist by scanning through though, sorry. XD- Starting his story at the beginning telling about the Chaos Heart was formed, how he was brainwashed to fight against his older brother. How Dimentio pretended to be his alter-ego's friend. Dimentio betraying him, and then using him to try and destroy the dimensions. By the end of it he was still staring at his feet ashamed of the whole incident, and the fact that he had been used. The fact that Dimentio had found so much amusement at the fact he had been easy to use and manipulate, all of which were memories he had wanted to forget.

-Totally alright, I would do the same - Kida felt sympathy for Luigi. "I can understand why you'd feel such shame at being used like that, but you weren't in control of yourself. None of what happened is your fault Luigi," she told him honestly. "Besides, the fact that you're here trying to help others, says so much more about your character than what you did under the influence of someone else's control." She didn't really agree with the whole heroism thing and felt like it was mostly a bunch of self-congratulatory male ego, but with Luigi, she could tell he was genuinely earnest to help others, and she respected that.

"Thanks. I still feel like I have to make up for it though." He admitted although at least she didn't seem to trust him any less after his story. Which was one of the things Luigi had been worried about if he had told anybody about it.

Kida didn't necessarily have any room to distrust anybody fraternizing with Dimentio to begin with, much less doing it solely because they were under his control. "What you do to cope with what happened is your business. But in the long run, just accepting what happened for what it was, though it can be extremely difficult, is usually the best way to move on. You were in a situation you had no control over, and that's terrifying and invasive, so if doing good deeds helps you feel better about it right now because it gives you at least some version of control, that's perfectly fine, but letting go, though hard, might be better for you."

"You sounded like my brother there." Luigi answered with a tiny smile on his face. He knew it was good advice, but for some reason he couldn't seem to just let it go. Truth was he had been coping fairly well until the latest development. "Though it is good advice, and like you said it's hard, but I know if I'm going to get past it I have to."

Kida nodded her understanding, she'd been through a few hellish experiences of her own that had taken years and decades to get past. And some things, she still hadn't fully accepted for what they were. "Take your time. Healing can't really be rushed, no matter how much we may want it to be," she acknowledged ruefully.

"Yeah." Luigi replied with a nod of his head though he knew somethings didn't heal completely ever, but he could accept them for now. What he wouldn't give to have his older brother here to help at least in some way. Granted he still had things he would have to face on his own, but that didn't mean some moral support wouldn't help some. "Glad you're on our side. You give good advice, we can all use that lately." He added knowing that he was changing the subject, but not wanting to dwell on it anymore then he already had to.

Kida chuckled, "Even though I chat with Enforcers, you still trust my advice?" she teased as she leaned back in the seat. She didn't mind the change of topic. She knew they were both practically strangers to each other. It was impressive he'd opened up this much to her in such a short amount of time.

"Yes. I was controlled by one, so I can't really judge anybody for talking to them right?" Luigi stated as if it was obvious though he knew he could be a little too naive and trusting at times. Which nowadays could be a huge flaw, but it was just how his nature was. Even the end of the world hadn't changed this small fact.

Kida chuckled and nodded, "You know, I like your straightforwardness a lot more than I thought I would," she told him honestly. He'd earned her genuine respect in such a short amount of time. That was very rare for her, especially during these times.

"I prefer being honest, how can anybody trust you if you're not right? You were honest too, so I trust you." Luigi responded smiling a bit more sincerely this time. What was the point of not telling the truth with the world the way it was. Sure you could be cautious without being dishonest most of the time it was all about balance.

Kida nodded and grinned, "I suppose you're right about that. Though I can't promise I'm truthful all the time," she warned kindly. She looked up at him, "I like your openness, but you could get hurt by it."

"Yeah, I guess it's both a gift and a curse of my personality." Luigi added with a small shrug of his shoulders.

Kida laughed, "The fact that you're aware of it's impressive in and of itself," she admitted. Hopelessly optimistic types who had no grip on reality weren't really her type, but people who were well-grounded yet still chose to be optimistic impressed her. "What do you think of the Freedom Fighters so far?" she asked out of curiosity.
